My Space Bug: info@drakehs.com My Space and other social networks are all the rage for kids and adults alike. However, a little care is needed to keep your kids safe. If the site is not secured, anyone, pedophiles included, can get access to your child's site. If your child puts phone numbers, addresses, etc, on the site, it's open for all to see and use. Make sure your child's site is set to private. No one can have access to their site unless they have the password. This limits access to only those people who have been invited. Now comes word that there is a bug in the software that allows people to access the photo galleries, even if they don't have the password to the site. For security reasons I'm not going to go into detail on this bug. To block this access you have to also configure the photo gallery to private. It is your job as a parent to make sure your child is safe. Insist on safety first. Know which sites your child visits, who they are chatting with, and what they are downloading. There is such a thing as the word "No" and putting a password on the computer to block access. Also there are filter programs which can be used in Internet Explorer and firewalls to help block access to certain types of content. |
