The tide on the Mississippi is rising, and with powerful spring gales to fill the sails of any seaworthy ship, who knows what the river will blow in. Rumors abound that a crew of pirates have marked the 2007 Small Business Breakfast this year, and plan to make berth with a chest full of booty at the Comfort Inn & Suites. But not to worry, ye landlubbers! Instead of hoarding their treasure, the pirates of Drake Harbor intend to share their goodies with the breakfast attendees on Friday, May 18th.

Drake Hardware & Software is the major sponsor of this year's annual Small Business Breakfast. The breakfast is arranged by the Burlington/West Burlington Area Chamber of Commerce. Through both the festivities and additional awards presented at the breakfast, the event honors Burlington/West Burlington small businesses' success and achievements that help sustain a major part of the area economy. Each year, the Burlington/West Burlington Chamber names a Small Business of the Year as well as several recipients of Distinction Awards for achievement and service to the community. In 2005, Drake Hardware & Software received the Small Business of the Year title. In addition, in 2004 and 2006, Drake earned Distinction Awards, and for three years has received the Regional Waste Commission Award for their successful E-Waste Recycling Program.

Each year many Chamber members design booths and displays to represent their business at the annual breakfast. This year Drake Hardware & Software has outdone themselves. With a theme of piracy on the high seas (or in this case, Mississippi River pirates - a somewhat more obscure but no less formidable crew), visitors to the Drake Hardware & Software booth will find candy Pirate's Gold, wild necklaces and rings fresh from the last voyage, as well as coupons for discounts on Drake Hardware & Software services, and more! For even more surprises, Captain Dana Johnston requests special attention paid to her presentation during the breakfast - you may be going on your own treasure hunt!
