Hackers Trying to Trick Windows Users:
info@drakehs.com

Hackers gaining access to your computer can be a scary thought. The best defense to such intrusion can be knowledge of some of the ways they can get into your system.

Rogue security software is software that uses malware (malicious software) or malicious tools to advertise, install itself, or to force computer users to pay for removal of nonexistent spyware. Rogue software will often install a trojan horse to download a trial version, or it will do other unwanted things. Malware includes computer viruses, worms, trojan horses, spyware, dishonest adware, and other malicious and unwanted software.

Rogue anti-spyware programs present themselves as legitimate security solutions, but have no intention of ridding a user's system of malware. Instead, the application scares the user with false test results, fails to get rid of existing spyware infections, and in some cases even infects the system with additional pieces of spyware and adware.

The main goal of rogue software makers is to sell their product. Many times fake Windows dialog boxes will appear. Most of the time, they will display a message such as "WARNING! Your computer is infected with spyware! Buy [product name] to remove it!"

A good resource to find rogue products is www.spywarewarrior.com. They have a long listing of products that are harmful to your computer or don't deliver the expected results. They also aid the common user in finding good products and tips that will get rid of malware.

Also keep your anti-virus and firewall software up to date. Make sure the subscription is current. If it isn't, then it is time to either renew or purchase new software. These actions will prevent most intruders from gaining access to your computer.
